Paul E. Totten is a Vice President at WSP and leads the Building Enclosures Division. He has over 25 years of experience in the fields of structural engineering, building enclosure design and commissioning, and building science. He has concentrated his expertise on the evaluation and analysis of heat, air, and moisture transfer, and the cumulative effect these elements have on building components and building operation. He is past co-chair of the Washington, DC AIA/NIBS Building Enclosure Council, a member of NIBS, ASHRAE, and USGBC and was a committee member of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Guideline 3 – Exterior Enclosure Technical Requirements for the Commissioning Process. He is the past chair for NIBS Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council (BETEC) Education committee.

John Krouse is a Ceramic Engineer and the CEO of Boston Valley Terra Cotta in Orchard Park, NY. Boston Valley specializes in the manufacturing of historic terra cotta replication, new construction and innovation in contemporary rain screen design and production. Krouse is a graduate of Alfred University with a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering and a minor in Ceramic Sculpture and has over 37 years of experience in terra cotta manufacturing. Boston Valley has successfully completed well over 3,000 building projects with Krouse leading the company. These projects range in size and scope from large government buildings to small private art galleries.

Thilo Wilhelmsen spent most of his 30+ year construction industry career focusing on highly complex exterior envelope systems. Prior to joining DPR as their Exterior Skin Expert, Thilo worked for international glazing contractors on some of the largest and complex building envelopes throughout North America and Europe.

His experience includes many ground-up core and shell projects in the commercial, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, transportation, and retail markets, ranging from $5-400M.

Since becoming a member of DPR’s team, Thilo has been leading the exterior envelope preconstruction and design assist phases on some of the company’s target projects nationwide. He has also been instrumental in developing DPR’s prefabricated, exterior wall panel applications. Through DPR’s own prefabrication subsidiary, Thilo has successfully incorporated the advantages of this construction approach into many of DPR’s ground-up projects throughout the country.

P. Christian Bailey, AIA, LEED AP, recently joined Morris Adjmi Architects as a Director, with over 25 years of architectural experience, most recently as the Founding Principal and Director of ODA Architecture. He has a proven record of success leading teams on innovative mixed-use/mixed-income projects and is well-known for his passion and mentorship in his work.

Christian works collaboratively with Founding Principal Morris Adjmi and MA’s leadership team to develop and execute projects and initiatives that align with the firm's core focus and long-term goals. He has a strong commitment to design excellence and creating value for our clients and communities.

Christian is the Board President of the Society of Registered Architects (SARA) New York Chapter, a member of the Industry Advisory Group for the United States Department of State Bureau of Overseas Building Operations (OBO), an active member of the AIA and Urban Land Institute (ULI), and an Adjunct Professor at City Tech.

Martiena Schneller determines design and quality standards across the Hoffman portfolio, utilizing her decade long experience in architectural and urban planning. Martiena has worked on several notable projects including all residential units, office buildings and entertainment venues at The Wharf. Beyond her work on The Wharf, Martiena managed public private partnership with Montgomery County in Bethesda for two residential projects as well as two notable residences in Southeast and Southwest D.C. She is currently focused on the company’s expanding portfolio including Seaboard Station, West Falls and Parcel B at Audi Field. Martiena is a LEED® Accredited Professional. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Lehigh University and Master of Architecture from the University of Maryland, where she designed and built a solar LEAFhouse to encourage green building and showcase innovative technology and design.

Jac Selinsky brings eight years of commercial and residential experience in design, construction documentation, and construction administration to Rafael Viñoly Architects. Jac’s interests include the development and documentation of complex enclosure systems including curtain walls, window walls, roofing, precast concrete, metal panel, lightweight structures, and other systems. By working directly with manufacturers, engineers and consultants, he develops systems and details based in understanding of fabrication processes as a means to achieve architectural goals.

Jac also brings extensive digital documentation knowledge and Building Information Modeling (BIM) experience to his projects. He leads his teams in developing design and construction documentation strategies and works with teams throughout the office to develop organization and execution plans for large and geometrically complex projects.

As the project manager of Riverside Center – Building 4, a luxury residential tower in Manhattan, Jac has led the design assist and construction administration process for the exterior enclosure. Working closely with the manufacturer’s engineering and design teams, Jac has had intense involvement in the technical development of the glazing, metal panel, and mechanical louver systems. Additionally, he has developed parametric modeling strategies to analyze and modify building geometry to assist the manufacturer with fabrication and shipping logistics to achieve the design intent while keeping the project on-budget.

Jac was responsible for design development documentation the enclosure for One River Point, a sixty-five storey mixed-use luxury residential project in Miami, FL. Consisting of two towers connected by an elevated parking structure and sky bridge, he developed curtain wall, window wall, structural glass fin, louver, and precast wall systems to meet stringent Miami-Dade performance requirements.

Prior to joining Rafael Viñoly Architects, Jac served as a project architect at Sheehan Partners in Chicago, IL. Among several large scale projects, Mr. Selinsky was responsible for the design, construction documents, and construction administration for the Facebook data center in Luleå, Sweden.

John Jackson, AIA, is an Associate Principal with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc.’s (SGH’s) Building Technology group in the Washington, DC office. John graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with degrees in architecture and structural engineering and has more than nineteen years of experience in building-enclosure design. He applies his creative and technical skills to the design and engineering of innovative enclosure systems, having worked on a wide variety of projects domestically and abroad, with particular expertise in curtain walls, custom glazing systems, structural glass, and glass investigations. In addition to his work in building enclosure design, John is an active member of SGH’s Glass Special Interest Group, ASTM Subcommittee E06.52 – Glass Use in Buildings and regularly lectures on building enclosure design.

Melissa Wong is an Associate Principal in Thornton Tomasetti’s Façade Engineering practice. Based in New York, she has been leading the design and construction of façade and enclosure systems from residential & commercial developments, to prominent institutions throughout the east coast, including Harvard University, Columbia University and the Empire State Building. With a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Pratt Institute, Melissa’s background bridge the gap between engineering and design. Her expertise has brought her to work on iconic international landmarks across the globe such as the Shanghai Tower, the third tallest building in the world, and the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, an integral sports complex as part of Al Ain’s new, wider community development.

Mr. Feehely has over 28 years of experience in the construction industry in a variety of roles and project types. As Quality Control Manager, Mr. Feehely provides oversight and leadership of Donohoe’s Quality Control department. Before joining Donohoe, Mr. Feehely spent several years working as a building enclosure consultant providing design review and construction phase consulting on new construction and performing building enclosure forensic investigations and repair designs. His past experience primarily includes working as a Quality Control Manager for all trade disciplines on base building commercial construction, historic restorations and renovations. The Donohoe Quality Control program focuses on building enclosures and interior waterproofing and vapor barrier systems. Mr. Feehely assists in pre-construction with design reviews focusing on enclosure interfaces, constructability, and compatibility of various systems. During construction, Mr. Feehely ensures the Quality Control team takes proactive steps through submittal reviews, mock-up reviews, pre-con meetings, and site visits to identify and resolve conflicts, issues, and non-compliant work in a timely manner to provide the highest level of building enclosure performance.

Jonathan Moorley is Executive Vice President of Client Partnerships for Synergi, a nationwide design-led fabricator and installer of complex feature stairs, windscreens and guardrails with 200+ feature stairs and several miles of guardrail/windscreen installed per year. Synergi uses a proprietary design-assist program to bring its engineering, fabrication, installation and pricing expertise to the concept/design development phases of the project to proactively providing cost and schedule control while protecting the design intent. Jonathan started his career as a consulting engineer having studied at the University or Bristol (UK) and Sydney University (Australia) where he earned a Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical Engineering.

Sameer Kumar is the Founder of Techne, a transdisciplinary building enclosure design and consulting firm based in New York. With over 23 years of experience in the field of facades, Sameer’s accomplishments represent a consistent pursuit of design excellence through the balance of craft and environmental performance in a wide variety of material expressions on several prominent projects around the globe.

Sameer extends his contributions to the architecture profession through his academic engagement as visiting faculty member with Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as through active participation in various architectural conferences as speaker and panelist.

Sameer Kumar is a licensed architect in the State of New York. He holds degrees in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and CEPT University, Ahmedabad.

Laryssa Dilozir is a licensed Professional Engineer registered in TX, CT, MA, TN, and FL and currently working in the curtain wall and façade industry with a Masters of Engineering in Construction Engineering Management. Her undergraduate degree is a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Villanova University. After completing her undergrad studies, she joined CDC as a full time employee in 2013. She specializes in the design and analysis of unitized and stick built curtain wall systems using glass and aluminum as well as stone and metal panel systems. She performs field testing, leak investigations, and provides consulting services on building envelopes.

In her role as Sustainability Specialist, Heather Jauregui is inspired by the intersections between wellness and sustainability, and believes that in order to truly move toward a more resilient society, we need to look at wellness of people and wellness of planet holistically. Her expertise in passive design, building science, indoor environmental quality, and pre/post-occupancy evaluations are valuable contributions to both the projects in which she is involved, and the firm as a whole. As a firm-wide resource, Heather leads discussions and research initiatives to educate and promote sustainable design practice. Heather also supports projects directly as an internal consultant on key projects with high sustainability ambitions, helping to guide the design process from goal setting and strategy identification to measuring results and communicating successes.

Heather is passionate about using data to inform design decisions. She believes that rules of thumb can only get you so far and that getting the right data at the right point in a design process can lead to drastic improvements in building performance.

Brad Carpenter specializes in designing and integrating complex building enclosure systems—including roofing, waterproofing, air and water barriers, rain screen cladding, and glazing systems—to deliver efficient, constructible, and high-performing solutions to clients’ most demanding project challenges. As a Senior Principal with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger in Washington, DC, Brad has extensive experience investigating, rehabilitating, and designing facade systems for historic and contemporary structures throughout the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. He enjoys partnering with team members across disciplines and developing creative and thoughtful solutions to improve facade performance in existing buildings and to exceed energy performance targets in modern enclosures. Brad is passionate about sharing his expertise and experiences throughout the industry and advocates for integrated, sustainable, and forward-thinking design practices in several organizations, including the Association for Preservation Technology International; ASHRAE; National Institute of Building Sciences; and the Fenestration & Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA).

Andy Doyle has over 40 years of construction industry experience. He skillfully manages projects with a clearly defined strategy while overseeing performance and encouraging team morale, from large-scale new construction projects to interior fit-outs. Andy maintains valuable working relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors, resulting in successful projects delivered on time and within budget. He has spent his entire career building projects in and around the District, including the Banneker Academic High School project. This high-performing school was built to align with the Mayor's Sustainable DC Initiative to make "the District the healthiest, greenest, most livable city for all District Residents" and is Net Zero Ready with significant sustainable features. Andy graduated with a B.S. in Architecture from Temple University.

Roger Chang, PE, has over two decades of building engineering experience and currently leads Buro Happold’s Washington DC office. He has significant experience with complex cultural, education, civic, and government projects, including two AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Top 10 winners. He has a special interest in the intersection of façade engineering and building systems and has previously presented at Greenbuild, APT, ASHRAE and AIA conferences. Roger previously served on the District of Columbia’s Energy and Green Technical Advisory Group and helped guide the development of the DC Department of General Services’ Energy Management Plan, a roadmap for decarbonization and compliance with the DC Building Energy Performance Standard. He was recognized in 2020 as an ASHRAE Fellow and was recently appointed a member of the General Services Administration’s Green Building Advisory Committee.

Ruth U. Hoang serves as Senior Vice President of Development where she oversees all company-sponsored real estate investment projects from inception to construction completion. Her responsibilities include master planning and entitlement strategy, ensuring design and construction excellence, adherence to project business plans, team mentoring and training, investor relations and reporting, and implementation of portfolio-wide procedures, standards, and reports. She is driven by her passion for the built environment and the ability to develop extraordinary places that connect to the soul of a community. By growing and challenging the teams around her, she is able to successfully deliver complex, sustainable, and legacy projects in the region.

Ruth is a decisive and seasoned real estate executive with 24 years of experience, specializing in the complete life-cycle development of multifamily and mixed-use communities with involvement in the pre/development of approximately 5,000 units and 100,000 SF of retail space in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Prior to joining Jair Lynch in 2020, Ruth led the strategic master planning and development of the Merriweather District in Columbia, MD for the Howard Hughes Corporation; and she has previously worked in development for Home Properties, JPI Development, and the National Capital Revitalization Corporation, along with time spent in real estate consulting at Ernst & Young and RCLCO.

Amanda Prins is a licensed architect with 12 years of experience designing commercial, academic, and urban planning projects in North American and the Middle East. She brings a detail-oriented and technical management approach to her projects, ensuring their success through design and delivery.

Amanda is the project manager for 17xM, a Class-A office building in Washington D.C. with a dynamic form encased in an articulated façade. Amanda’s portfolio also includes 55 Hudson Yards, where she worked closely with the developer, tenants, and consultants to develop design standards for future tenants. She also worked on the renovation of 280 Park Avenue, a Class-A office tower located near Grand Central Station.

Amanda served as an Artist in Residence at the 2012 American Psychoanalytic Society 2012 National Meeting, presenting her studio’s research on educational facilities, psychology, and architecture. She cochairs KPF’s ACE Mentoring program for high school students.

Kahlil Francis is a Development Associate for Skanska USA Commercial Development, a division of Skanska AB (Stockholm, Sweden). He is the development lead for Skanska’s award-winning 334,000 square foot downtown D.C. office project, 17xM. A licensed architect, Kahlil utilizes his international and domestic design-build experience in public-private partnerships to develop and manage complex, innovative, customer-centric project plans.

Brendan Mercier began with Cosentino in 2015 as an architect & design sales manager, selling multiple applications, including facades. In 2017 he took on additional responsibility as the façade application specialist in the Northeast region and in 2019 became the National Façade Manager for North America. He studied at the University of Massachusetts in Boston and then at Harvard University, focusing on business and economics. Prior to Cosentino he worked as a designer and owned his own apparel company. Brendan currently sits on two sub-committees for the Rainscreen Association of North America (RAiNA), the industry outreach & marketing as well as the education & training committees. He has a passion for the exterior envelope and hopes to continue speaking about the importance of sustainable building design, focused on rainscreen facades, along with sustainable manufacturing.

For Rebecca Pantschyshak, design is in the details. A Project Architect with ZGF, Rebecca is passionate about crafting details through all phases of design and documentation, technical coordination, and bringing design to life during construction. Rebecca bore broad responsibility for the exterior façade at Amazon’s HQ2 at Metropolitan Park’s, playing a lead role through zoning approvals, design assist, and construction administration. In addition to HQ2, her career has concentrated on multifamily and affordable housing, office towers, and mixed-use projects throughout the DC region. Rebecca is respected as a leader within her project teams, instilling a rigor around documentation and efficiency. A Board Member of the AIA Northern Virginia Chapter and past Co-Chair of its Women in Architecture Committee, she is dedicated to giving back to the architectural profession. Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech.

A project designer and project architect with ZGF, Chris Somma excels at evolving creative ideas into well-crafted, functional architecture. With a focus on maximizing design possibilities within real-world constraints, he guides complex projects from concept through implementation. In addition to his key design and technical role on Amazon’s HQ2 at Metropolitan Park, Chris has led high-performance projects throughout the DC region, including Redbrick LMD’s The Douglass at the Bridge District and the prototype and implementation for Montgomery County’s new BRT Stations. Chris is a frequent presenter, having spoken at conferences including Design DC and Rail~Volution. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto’s Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design.

Since joining WJE in 1997, Ms. Driscoll has developed and/or served as Project Manager for a wide variety of projects including forensic investigation, repair document preparation and oversight during implementation, field performance testing, and building enclosure commissioning (BECx) on a wide range of buildings and structures, including: The $1.5 billion National Geospatial Intelligence Agency East Campus, Fort Belvoir, VA. She was Co-Chair to Dan Lemieux on ASTM Committee E06.55.09, Exterior Enclosure Commissioning and a primary author of the resulting standard ASTM E2813: Standard Practice for Building Enclosure Commissioning. She has authored or co-authored several papers and presentations on the topic of building enclosure design, construction, and performance.

Since joining WJE in 1996, Daniel Lemieux has successfully completed hundreds of projects in the area of building enclosure failure investigation, repair design, and architectural rehabilitation, including projects that have been recognized nationally for design and restoration excellence. As the firm’s Director of International Development, he is responsible for advancing WJE’s global architecture and building science practices. Prior to that, Dan served as Managing Principal of WJE’s Washington, D.C. office from 2006 to 2016. Dan currently serves on multiple ASTM International committees including vice chair of E06, Performance of Buildings and chair of E06.55, Performance of Building Enclosures. He is founding chair and a primary author of ASTM E2813, Standard Practice for Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) and worked closely with WJE colleagues and practicing and teaching professionals from across North America to support the development of ASTM E2813, ASTM E2947 Standard Guide for BECx and ASHRAE Standard 202 Commissioning Process for Buildings and Systems. He served as an author and technical editor for the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) web-based Whole Building Design Guide and NIBS Guideline 3: Exterior Enclosure Technical Requirements for the Commissioning Process. Dan was elected to the AIA College of Fellows in 2021 for his work in building science and the physics of building enclosure and whole building performance. He has authored, co-authored, presented and chaired workshops and symposia on that topic in North America and internationally and served as co-chair of the 2017 Symposium on Building Science and Conservation at Southbank Centre, London.

Sean Lyons is Page’s Academic and Housing Studio Director for the DC Office. With over 35 years of experience, Sean’s passion is to create an engaged design process that empowers clients to realize their project vision. He is an Architect and Project Director with significant higher education, medical, science, and performing arts project experience for many top institutions and outstanding clients. He is skilled in Integrated Project Delivery, Quality Design, and High Performance Buildings.

Paul O'Connell RA, LEED AP, thinks architecture is about the user experience and shaping spaces that create exciting built environments. Faculty, researchers, and students each require a building that performs slightly differently while overlapping around a central academic function. Paul enjoys the process of understanding those needs and developing spaces that weave together the flow of teaching, research, and interaction.

In 20 years of exploring academic and research space solutions, he has found that he thrives by sharing his ideas and learning from others, be it colleagues, clients, or consultants. This interest in learning and exploration helps him create stimulating and inventive environments that foster a positive user experience.

Angel A. Dizon III is a Senior Executive in the Federal Government responsible for 35M SF of Public Buildings home to 50,000 federal employees. He is focused on providing public platforms that represent the U.S. Government and have positive economic, environmental, and social impacts in their communities.

Angel has led work in 300 cities in 200 countries. He’s been responsible for portfolios valued at $80B and design/construction projects valued at $20B annually. Angel has led innovation publicly/privately and has been instrumental in the transformation of organizations to focus on innovation and impact.

Angel has over 30 years of real estate, planning, design, and construction expertise serving as a consultant to the Federal Government and as a public servant. His leadership has been recognized with various performance awards and the projects for which he is responsible are recognized with numerous industry awards.
